Defying Fate with Strength

As a BRCA2+ “previvor" I have learned the strength that defies fate is all encompassing. It takes physical strength as well as mental fortitude and faith it will all be okay. The Rebel Soul Brand was created to honor and empower every form of strengths - physical, mental and spiritual. We believe meaning evolves and perspective transforms. It’s the way we look at things that makes all the difference.

Watching family member after family member lose the fight with cancer due to their BRCA2 mutation (a genetic mutation that increases the likelihood of cancer and your ability to fight it), I was gifted an opportunity. The chance to find out if I too carried the gene. 

Lucky me 🙄, I was BRCA2+. Winner winner.  Unlike my family members before… I could do something about it. At first I chose to live the cleanest life possible. But, after being overwhelmed with the crunchy life, I opted to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy and eventually a full hysterectomy. Fast forward through issues with the implants, I ended up going FLAT. My true authentic self. 

It's then I decided I wanted to take a chance and do something that made me vulnerable, but I loved. I love a good graphic tee and all summer rock a hat. I also always wanted to find something that spoke to me. I decided that I wanted to start creating. Even though I was (and still am) scared no one would like my ideas. 😉

I created The Rebel Soul Brand. A brand that creates meaningful sayings/designs that we can wear to inspire others and ourselves. Or maybe just to have fun!

Life is meant to be fun, after all.

I also wanted to be a voice for the flat closure option AND the faith that got me through.

I married my bestest friend in the whole world; we have two amazing girls and together we celebrate the belief that there is something bigger than us. That we are human and only capable of controlling ourselves - and at times that can even be hard. In the face of adversity, we can rely on God to guide our way, and Jesus to set the example. 

Life hands us ups and downs. In both - God is with you. In the bad there is good, a lesson to learn, a moment of growth. Let's not waste the moments we are handed. Hidden in every moment can be a step closer to God.

I started this project as a fun idea to fulfill my creative side, to be able - no matter how successful - to continue with something no matter the lows. I create each design from something that life has sent my way. Each one means something to me and I hope, means something to you.

With my family by my side, my hope is to continue to design, inspired by life. To maybe one day have a fun booth somewhere to meet the people who rock 🤘🏻 these designs. To continue to build my relationship with Jesus and continue to inspire you to do the same though fun graphic tees and hats!
